New Delhi:12 June :- The Center has proposed to change the name of ‘Blood Bank’ to ‘Blood Center’. According to the proposed rules recently approved by the Drugs Technical Advisory Board, the ‘Blood Center’ will be an official campus in an organization or institution. The Center has set 103 conditions for effective blood donation rules. The minimum age of blood donors is 18 years and the maximum age is 65 years. A senior Health Ministry official said that according to the proposed rules, after giving birth to a child, for six months after abortion, for breastfeeding and during menstrual cycle women can not donate blood.
The draft rule prohibits the donation of prisoners’ blood. It also prohibits the blood donation of those who are residents of such areas or have traveled in areas where there are risks of transfusion of diseases caused by blood donation. Under the rules, six months after minor surgery and after years of major surgeries, it has been recommended to avoid blood donation for a year. Also, after recovering from malaria, no person can donate blood for three months.
