MUMBAI:16 May :- Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab will clash with each other on Wednesday in order to maintain the smile for the purpose of reaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) rounds.
After winning consecutive matches in the three matches in the latter half, the expectations of Mumbai’s follow-on fifties were raised. After Mumbai lost to Mumbai in the match against Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai have been reduced to sixth place. Punjab, which has been defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore, has dropped to fifth position. The Punjab, which is in the starting lineup, has lost four out of the last five matches.
For the two teams in the fifth and sixth place, this match will be confronted with the match being the type of die in this season. Although Mumbai’s opening is good, the middle order is not consistent. Opening Suryakumar Yadav is consistently doing well but he does not get the right combination with others. Therefore, Mumbai’s batting has been a matter of headache for them. Rohit has not been able to play any of the tough knocks except the 94-run knock against Bengaluru. Therefore, Rohit and after that, Hardik and Krishnal Pandey also need good performance and they can expect the team to shine.
Punjab’s heart is again on the likes of Lokesh Rahul and Chris Gayle. They were reduced to 88 runs due to not being able to show any brightness against Bengaluru and the subsequent one could not even score a big score. Therefore, it is a challenge for Mumbai to stop both of them. The challenge of replacing Mujib ur Rahim due to his involvement in the bowling attack will be with Punjab captain Ashwin and Aktar Patel. “Our performance has been depleted in the past few matches, but now we will be in the next round by increasing the performance in the next game,” confident Punjab skipper Ashwin said.
