04th Aug :- India and Kazakhstan on Friday agreed to pursue cooperation in the areas of trade, defense and security after the delegation-level talks led by Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Kirat Abdrikmannov.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Sushma said that we have discussed bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest. At the same time, we also saw progress in our bilateral relations.

He said that both India and Kazakhstan have developed multi-dimensional cooperation in all areas of bilateral and multilateral relations. Both countries are strategic partners since 2009.

Sushma said that I discussed with the Foreign Minister Abdarkhamnov to explore the markets of new products and to increase trade between the two countries for partnership with Kazakhstan.

He said, there is a greater chance of increasing trade in areas such as agricultural products, energy and chemicals. Let us know that Kazakhstan is India’s largest trading and investment partner in Central Asia. The bilateral trade between the two countries was $ 64.24 million in the financial year 2016-17.

Sushma Swaraj said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India launched many other ambitious plans like Make in India, Digital India, Clean India, Startup India, 100 Smart City and many other schemes. He discussed India’s digital program with Foreign Minister Carritt Abdrakhmanov and told him that there are many things in it that could be in the interest of Kazakhstan’s Digital Kazakhstan program.
