Looking at the performance of this season of Hyderabad, it seemed as if the match would be exciting, but Watson, who hit 11 fours and eight sixes, made it more entertaining than exciting. This is Watson’s second century in this season. He has become the fourth batsman to score two centuries in one IPL season. He has also become the first batsman to score a century in pursuit of the target in the IPL final.
Watson and his partner Faf du Plessis (10) tried to give a quick start to Chennai, but they did not succeed because Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sandeep Sharma kept both tied. In this pressure du Plessis lost patience and Sandeep’s ball was trapped by him in an attempt to play a big shot.
Hyderabad would dominate, but Watson did not allow this to happen and Suresh Raina gave him a good hand in this. Both of them made an in-depth shift with quick pick-up. Both knew that Rashid Khan could create trouble for him, so he did not kill them. The total of Rashid’s total of three overs has only 12 runs. Both shared a 117-run partnership for the second wicket.
Raina was dismissed by Carlos Brathwaite on 133 for the third ball of the 14th over. Raina scored 24 runs in 24 balls with three fours and a six. Watson completed his second century in this season with a run in the third ball of the 17th over, for which he took 51 balls. Ambati Rayudu returned with a four and a six in 19 balls with Watson. He made the Chowk defeating Chennai as the winner.
