29 June :- Star Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth has made it to the semi-finals of the Malaysia Open tournament. On Friday, world number-7 Srikanth defeated France’s Brice Lavardez.
Shrikant beat world number 22 Bris Lavarde in the quarter-finals 21-18, 21-14 in straight games. The match lasted 39 minutes. Now in the semi-finals Srikanth will face Japan’s world number- 11 Kento Momota. Canto made it to the final four by defeating Chinese Taipei’s World Number-4 Tin Chen Chou 21-19, 21-11.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu will also play in the quarter-finals. They will face Spain’s world number -6 from Carolina Marin. World number 3 Sindhu beat Malaysia’s Ying Ying Li in the second round of women’s singles. In just 32 minutes, Sindhu defeated world number -39 Lee straight into the game 21-8, 21-14.
Sindhu and Marin have clashed 11 times so far. The Spanish Girl has played 6 times. Marin had defeated Sindhu in the final of the Rio Olympics. Marin had beaten Hong Kong’s world number-20 Cheyung Gan Yee in the pre-quarterfinals on Thursday, 24-22, 21-11 in straight games.
