For the first time on the occasion of Ranjan Gogoi, the person in the North East has been appointed as the Chief Justice. Considering the order of seniority in the Supreme Court, Mishra is followed by Ranjan Gogoi at second place. Justice Ranjan Gogoi was the judge of the Guwahati High Court in 2001. In February 2011, he was the Chief Justice of the Punjab-Haryana High Court. In April 2012, he took over as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Now, he has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
