In addition, the information about the cancellation of the passport of Neerwa Modi was included in the Central database of Interpol on February 24, the CBI said.

The DRI had initiated action against Neerav Modi and three of his companies in March. Modi’s Firestarter International Pvt. Ltd., Firestar Diamond International Pvt. Ltd And Radashir Jewelery Company Pvt. Ltd These companies were included. Modi imported diamonds and pearls worth Rs 890 crores abroad from Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Surat. He missed the customs duty of Rs 52 crore. Imported goods are imported only if actual goods are imported into SEZ, then they can be re-processed and exported by value addition. But Modi used to go back to the customs duty and earn money by selling high quality diamonds imported in the country and used low-quality diamonds for exotic exports.
