External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday said that India values its relations with Russia most of the importance. This statement by Sushma came after Russian President Vladimir Putin reviewed bilateral relations before the proposed India visit in the beginning of next month.
This is Russia’s third visit to Sushma’s last 11 months. He reviewed the progress made on bilateral synergy between trade and investment, science and technology, culture and other issues of mutual interest on Friday with Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov of Russia.

The two leaders co-chaired the 23rd Indo-Russian Inter-Governmental Commission (Technology and Economic Coordination).
“There is a special and special strategic partnership between India and Russia,” Sushma said in the statement after the meeting. This partnership has strengthened over time and includes all dimensions related to human activities. India attaches high importance to its relations with Russia. ‘
Preparation of summit
This meeting of the Commission is in view of preparations for the 19th India-Russia Summit in India beginning in the beginning of next month. Sushma said that the two sides are working on the preparations for the summit.
President Putin is expected to arrive in India to participate in the summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the beginning of next month.
Sushma said, “The Deputy Prime Minister and I have made a detailed review of my relations. I am satisfied with the result of the meeting. I am confident that our discussion will strengthen synergy between all existing and new areas in the coming days. ”
New goal of two-way investment
Both sides discussed the expansion of bilateral trade. The bilateral trade reached $ 10.17 billion in 2017. Sushma said, “We discussed ways of increasing the speed, ensuring controlled business and increasing the barriers to trade. We have already achieved a double-dollar investment of $ 30 billion by 2025, with the goal of increasing it to 50 billion dollars by 2025. ”
Borisov said on this occasion that Russia and India are close to getting $ 30 billion business turnover in the years to come.
“The bilateral trade has achieved a strong growth rate over the last few years,” Russian government’s official news agency Tas said, quoting Borisov. If it is kept, we will get it soon. ‘
Meeting of new opportunities
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar tweeted, “Start the meeting to expand our relations in all areas and identify new opportunities. Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov are chairing the Indo-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Coordination.
The External Affairs Ministry said in the statement that after reviewing bilateral synergy in different areas, the policy will provide policy suggestions and guidelines in the respective areas.
The previous meeting of the Commission was held in New Delhi in December 2017. Sushma also met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday.
