30 June :- Five soldiers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police were killed at the time when a large rock collapsed from the mountain collapsed on the vehicle due to landslides due to rain on the Basar-Akasan route in Lower Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Police sources told that the incident took place at around 2.50 pm on Thursday night at around 5 kilometers from Lower Siang district headquarters, Likabali, when the soldiers of the Indian Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were going from Basar in western Siang district to lower Siang .

Lower Siang’s Superintendent of Police Singjtala Singhpo said that the huge stone rolling down the hill fell on the mini bus carrying 20 personnel of ITBP. Four personnel of the force died on the spot. He said that the combined relief and rescue team of ITBP and State Police has so far recovered three bodies. Local people are helping the team.
This is the second incident in rain in five days in the state. In this monsoon, the number of people killed in landslide incidents has reached nine. The Superintendent of Police told that the vehicle was running slow because the condition of the road was very bad and it came under huge stone grip. He told that eight other ITBP workers were injured in this incident, two of them seriously injured. Seriously injured soldiers have been admitted to Army Hospital at Likabali and minor casually injured soldiers have been admitted to the local community health center.
