Rashid Khan took three wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs in Hyderabad. He got the better of Carlos Braithwaite and Siddharth Kaul 2-2 while Shakib Al Hasan got one wicket each. Opener Chris Lean tried to save the team from Kolkata, but he did not want to get along with the other batsmen.
Earlier, Afghanistan’s all-rounder Rashid Khan hit the last over with the help of a blistering shot to take the match against Kolkata Knight Riders for 174 runs. To get to the final, Kolkata were 175 runs. The Kolkata bowlers, who decided to bowl first after winning the toss, got the better of Hyderabad batsmen in the opening over.
After the return of Shikhar Dhawan-Vriddhiman six pairs, none of the Hyderabad batsmen could score a big score. Since the post-lunch session was in session, Kolkata has kept a tight grip on the match. Hyderabad’s explosive batsman Carlos Brathwaite also added frustration in the match, adding to the team’s concern.
However, Rashid Khan played Kolkata’s bowling in the last over with a bat-like batting line-up. Rashid Khan, with the small partnerships made with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, reached Hyderabad with 174 runs in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets for Kolkata. He was well supported by Shivam Mavi, Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine taking 1-1 each.
