Atal Bihari Vajpayee (born: December 25, 1924)

He is a former Indian Prime Minister and a Hindi poet. He was an MP from Lucknow from 1991 to 2009. He was the Prime Minister of the 11th Lok Sabha for 13 days, and in the 12th Lok Sabha (19th March 1998 to 19th May 2004). In addition to this, he was the founder member of Jansangho, President of Jana Sangh (1968-19 73), Leader of Parliamentary Party of Jan Sangh (1955-19 77), founder member of Janata Party (1977-19 80), President of Bhartiya Janata Party (1980-19 86) and Parliamentary Party of Bhartiya Parishad Leader (1984-19 84, 1986, 1993-1996), Leader of the Opposition in the 11th Lok Sabha and Indian Foreign Minister on March 24, 1977 to July 28, 1979. Vajpayee’s first relationship with politics came in the wake of the Quit India Movement in 1942. They were arrested. Later, he came in contact with Shyam Prasad Mukherjee and Bharatiya Jan Sangh a few days later. His career began as a leader of the Jana Sangh. Vajpayee was elected to Parliament in Balarampur in 1957. In his youth, with his silent words, he gained praise and respect at all levels despite his opposition. His speeches were considered very good and quality. Jawaharlal Nehru praised Vajpayee as the Prime Minister of India.

Even though the Indian Jana Sangh is a powerful constituency, the National Congress has not been able to distance itself from power. Meanwhile, the newly formed Congress (I) (Congress) (I) party came to power. Later in 1975 Indira Gandhi declared an emergency in the country. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bhartiya Jana Sangh combine with various parties and constituents opposing the Emergency. In the meantime, he had to be imprisoned for the opposition. Indira Gandhi resigned in 1977. For the subsequent elections, the Jana Sangh has formed the Janata Party with many social and regional parties. After the Janata Party got a majority in the elections, the government was formed under the leadership of Morarji Desai. Vajpayee was elected from New Delhi and he accepted the post of External Affairs Minister.

Vajpayee went to China in 1979, during his two-year tenure. This was an attempt to improve relations between the two countries after the 1962 war. He later visited Pakistan also. Discussion and trade between India and Pakistan after the 1971 war. Vajpayee, representing the country at the Conference on Disarmament, strongly supported India’s nuclear program. He made speeches from Hindi in the United Nations General Assembly in 1977. Finally, in 1979, after resigning from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he resigned.

The Janata Party government did not last long. Morarji Desai resigned. The Janata Party was finally defeated due to internal opposition. Vajpayee, together with LK Advani and Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, friends of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bhartiya Jansangh founded the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1980. Vajpayee became the BJP’s first president. BJP was the strongest opposition Congressman. Although BJP supported Operation Blue-Star, the BJP also opposed the anti-Sikh riots that took place in Delhi after the assassination of Indira Gandhi’s bodyguard. In the Lok Sabha elections held after that, BJP has got only two seats. Yet the BJP remained in the mainstream of the country’s politics and Vajpayee remained the center of the party. However, the influence of Hindutva on the BJP was increasing, that is why VHP of Ram Janmabhoomi And the BJP gave voice at the political level to the RSS on the issue of RSS. However, the BJP has been expanding in the politics of the country. In the elections of Gujarat and Maharashtra in March 1995, the BJP won the assembly elections. In the November 1995 meeting of BJP in Bombay, Advani declared that the name of Vajpayee as the candidate for the post of PM for the 1996 Lok Sabha elections.

Prime Minister

First phase (May 1996):

In the elections of 1996, the BJP emerged as a big party with 162 seats. The Lok Sabha hung for 1996 due to many regional parties and even a small party. As the biggest party, the BJP got an invitation to power. He took oath as Vajpayee’s prime minister. But the BJP could not get support from the other parties during the discussions in the Lok Sabha. So without taking the majority test, Vajpayee resigned in 13 days and the Vajpayee government came to power.

Second phase (March 1998):

Between 1996 and 1998, the Third Front got two opportunities for the government to be formed. Devyagoda and Ikkumar Gujral became the Prime Minister of India. Both of these governments soon collapsed. In 1998 elections, the BJP became a strong contender and Vajpayee was sworn in as the Prime Minister. At the same time, BJP along with other parties formed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA – National Democratic Alliance). Finally, by the end of 1998, AIADMK leader Jayalalitha withdrew support to NDA. At this time, the Vajpayee government at one point of time came under the Vishwamit proposal. Opposition parties could not even form a government, and finally India again faced the parliamentary elections. At that time, Vajpayee became caretaker Prime Minister. In this second spell, Vajpayee left the mark of his own politics and strength. Some of his important decisions were as follows.

Nuclear Testing Pokaran 2:

In May 1998, the Vajpayee government conducted 5 nuclear tests in the ground floor. Only a month after the acquisition of power, these tests were the cause of the masses, especially the United States, because India had retired and surrendered the US spy surveillance. [Reference air] In two weeks Pakistan has also made nuclear tests. Russia and France have supported nuclear weapons for India’s defense and peaceful use. However, the US, Canada, Japan, England and European Union have imposed restrictions on India in many areas. However, due to Vajpayee’s economic policies, this does not endanger itself. Lahore Visit and Discussion:

At the end of 1998, Vajpayee took a major initiative for peace talks with Pakistan. He decided to start a bus service between Lahore and Delhi. They themselves went to Pakistan to discuss a bus. It has great response in India, Pakistan and globally. Not only politicians and diplomats, but also along with Vajpayee, there have been many dignitaries in the art sector. Dev Anand was also involved in it. After the Kargil war, he had given a message to the Indian cricket team that went on tour to Pakistan, “The game also won and heart”. Kargil War:

The introspection between the Kargil war is a testimony to Vajpayee’s strength. When Vajpayee was trying to improve relations between the two countries in Lahore, Pakistan was infiltrating Kashmir. In the winter there are high temperatures in the Kashmir Valley on the highways, with temperatures falling below 50% and both the countries are reduced. As the summer starts, the soldiers of both the countries are back in the post. But in early 1999, Pakistan has encroached upon its soldiers and officers in the vacant posts of Indians in vacant posts. Many soldiers and officials of this region had their Pakistani identity card. As the summer started, it was a matter of Indian army’s attention. And started Operation Victory in June 1999. Nawaz Sharif has tried to capitalize on this situation and give him an international format. Visiting China, he appealed for help. The then President Bill Clinton expressed his willingness to mediate. Vajpayee was invited to Washington for a discussion. However, Vajpayee refused to accept this inviting invitation. This has prompted the United States to respond to a global police questioning, but Pakistan’s attempt to break the Shimla agreement by taking the Kashmir question to international level and interfering with the third party was averted.

Third phase (October 1999 – May 2004):

In the General Elections held in 1999 (the National Democratic Alliance) got success, and Vajpayee took the oath of office for a third consecutive term.

Indian abducted plane hijacked:

In 1999, Taliban militants kidnapped IC-814 passenger plane. The plane was flown to Delhi from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Due to this act of terrorists, the Vajpayee government released a passenger plane in exchange for 3 terrorists.

2001 Parliament attack:

In 2001, the terrorist Afzal Guru and his supporters attacked the Parliament. 7 Indian security guards were killed in this attack. However, there was a great disaster as the terrorists committed the crime, because there was an RDX that could destroy the whole parliament on the terrorists.
