Chennai:23 May :-  There is a strong movement against the Starlight Copper Plant of Vedanta Group in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. This movement had a violent turn, in which eleven died. Police used force to scuttle the crowd, in which the protesters died.

This movement is against the pollution caused by Vedanta Group’s Starlight Copper Factory. The agitation is getting even more acute since the company’s expansion has been reported. The movement had a sudden turn violent and yesterday, eleven lost their lives.

Politics arose after the violence

Politics is being tossed due to the death of eleven people in police action. Congress President Rahul Gandhi criticized the state government in Tamil Nadu. They said that the killing of eleven people in police action is an example of state-sponsored terrorism. Tamil Nadu’s Leader of the Opposition, MK Stalin, expressed his concern over meeting the Chief Secretary of the state.

The movement was suddenly violent and the fire broke out in the vehicles. In response to the police’s response, tears were torn off, after which the environment became worse. Eleven people died in an encounter with the police. This movement is against the pollution caused by Vedanta Group’s Starlight Copper Factory. Madras High Court has ordered to increase security, but after the violence, the police have imposed section 144 (mobilization).

Tuticorin is a Starlight copper unit of Vedanta Group in the city. This unit causes severe pollution of air and water. According to some reports, there are two people in every home in Tuticorin city. People have breathing, skin and heart problems. After the news of expanding the plant in January, the opposition got intensified.

Each of the victims is 10 lakh rupees

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Palaniswamy has ordered an investigation into the matter and announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the relatives of the deceased. Three lakh rupees each will be paid to the injured.

In the meantime, there is a possibility that one member of his family will be given a job because of the pollution caused by this plant.
