Gurudas Kamat has worked as the general secretary of Congress and is regarded as a close friend of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He was in touch with grassroots activists in the state. He also worked as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Dadra Nagar Haveli and in charge of Diu and Daman.
