07th Aug : News Express 24 :-

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday and discussed issues related to the state with him. It is believed that this meeting was due to the ongoing Maratha reservation movement in the state.

After the meeting Chief Minister Fadnavis tweeted that during the meeting, he told the Prime Minister about various issues related to Maharashtra. His gift to the Prime Minister has happened at a time when the Maratha government in Maharashtra is agitating for reservation in government jobs and education. The movement is also taking violent forms.

Fadnavis had said yesterday that all the constitutional obligations needed to give reservation to Marathas will be completed by November.

Between the ongoing movement on reservations, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari of Aurangabad in Maharashtra, when asked about the current movement of Marathas and other communities related to the demand for such reservation, he replied that even if reservation is given, there is no benefit That’s because jobs are not there. Jobs in the bank has reduced due to IT. Government recruitment is halted. Where are the jobs?

Commenting on this, Congress President Rahul Gandhi had said in a tone that Gadkari, you have asked the right questions. Every Indian is asking the same question. Where are the jobs?

Earlier, during the Maratha Reservation controversy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had convened a meeting of party leaders last week. Party legislators and senior leaders joined the meeting.

Maratha community accounts for 30 percent of Maharashtra’s 12 million population. The protest in the state since last several days has taken violent form. Their major demands include reservation of 16 percent reservation in jobs and education, punishment for death of accused in Kopardi rape cases and amendment to prevent misuse of SST law.

Over half a dozen people have committed suicides in the state during the ongoing movement on the demand for reservation. Apart from this, 8 protesters in Latur district had also tried self-denial.
