Capital Geared Up to Welcome ‘Ganpati Bappa’

The National Capital is all set to give a grand welcome to ‘Lord Ganesha` in the wake of Ganesh Utsav approaching September 13. On this pious occasion, the Exhibition-cum-Sale of Ganesh Idols has been organized by Marhati Maharashtra Emporium from Tuesday. Eminent personalities in the National Capital and NCR region like Hon. Union Minister Arun Jaitley duly purchase the pious idols from here regularly.
Since, last 20 years, the Marhati Emporium situated at Connaught Place on the Baba Kharak Singh Marg, the Delhi office of Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Ltd. has been organizing such exhibitions for devotees in and NCR, says the Resident Manager of the Emporium, Amarjyot Kaur Arora. Adding further, she says, colourful and attractive Idols of different makes & sizes would be available from 6 inches to 6 feet tall. Ganesh Idols will be put up on sale from September 4 to September13, which would be the first day of this pious festival.

Apart from Ganesh Idols, Pooja Articles, decoration items and colourful rangolis will also be made available here, on a reasonable price. The prices of pious Ganesh Idols range from Rs 700/- to Rs 60,000/- Many Ganesh Mandals located in and around Delhi make advance bookings almost 7-8 months before the start of the festival by a number and people is done.

Shri Mandar Shinde, the skillful artist behind the making of all these idols says, he gets immense satisfaction in making and decorating the idols. A total of 1400 Ganpati idols have been kept for exhibition-cum-sale. Care has been taken to protect the environment by displaying maximum eco-friendly idols totaling 1000 and Plaster of Paris idols totaling 400.

`Ganesh Utsav` is widely celebrated in Maharashtra. However, of late; it has spread its cultural wings in the National Capital giving the same touch and warmth. Lokmanya Tilak, the founder of this festival with a social and noble cause by uniting people from all sects in the country can be witnessed even today as well, when the cosmopolitan city gets engrossed in this holy celebration.

The `Ganesh Utsav` in Delhi is celebrated with great pomp and show. Numerous Ganpati Mandals sprung up in and around Delhi to celebrate this festival with grandeur. Many entrepreneurs like Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri, Ritu Nanda, Monica Sarin and many other patrons visit this Emporium every year during this time. Shri Mandeep Singh of Raja Garden Ganesh Mandal, is also a great patron and installs huge Ganpati, ‘Dilli ka Raja’ Idol regularly.
The city regains vibrancy when all the Delhiites are in the festive mood watching a number of traditional and cultural art forms of the state, organized by various Mandals in and around Delhi.
