Amarnath yatra stopped due to rain, the first batch stopped in Pahalgam and Baltal

Srinagar: 28 June :- The beginning of the Amarnath Yatra is being delayed due to heavy rains in Kashmir due to Pahalgam and Baltal base camps. A spokesman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board said that the journey has not started from Pahalgam or Baltal any base camp due to rain. He said that the journey will start only after the weather gets cured and the road is safe.

In the midst of tight security, the first batch of about 3,000 pilgrims left Jammu and arrived in Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in Kashmir in the evening last evening. Officials said that out of the first jatha, 1,904 people would go through the traditional Pahalgam while the other people (1,091) would go to Baltal via the holy Amarnath cave located in the Himalayas. There are 2,334 men, 520 women, 21 children and 120 sadhus in the jatha.
