24 June : Pune :- Two days have been banned on plastic in Maharashtra. In these two days, the municipal corporation has recovered nearly four lakh rupees from those people who used plastic bags as a penalty.
Jaya Sagale, official of the Aundh Regional Office, said that 12 cases have been registered in Aundh area. And 75 thousand rupees have been recovered as fines. When asked to the officer why the action is being done only on the people and shopkeepers, why are those who are manufacturers of plastic bags being spared? The official did not respond.
The official said that people are being made aware, along with action is being taken. For the first time if a person is being caught using a plastic bag, then he is being fined as Rs 5000. If the mistake for the second time is 10 thousand rupees and for the third time if mistake, then the penalty of 25 thousand rupees will be taken.
One woman raised the question that why the plastic bags are not being banished while production is going on. The shopkeeper told that there is no information about which plastic is banned, which plastic is not banned.
However, Jaya Sagale , Health Department official said that plastic packing of bread is banned. A leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) alleged that the state government is charging ransom from the citizens. The leader of the MNS said that the Maharashtra government has brought this new stance to hide its failures so that the attention of the people can be shared.
