04th Aug : News Express 24 :- 343 medicines, including corridon and de-cold, are likely to be banned by the Union Health Ministry. Pens killer and flu-related drugs are expected to be banned. The Health Ministry said that these drugs are medicines for fixed dose combinations (FDC). A sub-committee of the Union Health Ministry had recommended the ban on these drugs. According to this recommendation, medicines may be banned.
Meanwhile, if these drugs are banned, national companies like Piramal, McLeod, Cipla and Lupine will be hit. If the government decides to implement this ruling, then cough syrup and pen-killer like fencing, seridone, D-cold lot will be prohibited.
According to the recommendations made by the Drug Technology Advisory Board (DTA), the list of drugs that are to be banned will be made. 343 drugs are being added to the list of DTABs.
