Jammu: 10 July :- The 10th batch of 5,144 pilgrims left for Jammu today to pilgrimage to Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas. This week it has been projected for continuous rain for some days again. Officials said that this new group of devotees has 1,039 women and 203 sadhus, who left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in the early hours today. They are expected to reach Pahalgam and Baltal base camp by this evening.
Officials said that a convoy of 67 vehicles had left for 12 kilometers long reputed Baltal route, in which 1,822 devotees were boarded while the second convoy of 128 vehicles along with 3,322 pilgrims left for 36 kilometers of traditional Pahalgam route.
Since the Bhagwati Nagar base camp, a total of 40,935 devotees have been involved in the pilgrimage while other pilgrims have reached and reached their base camps. Due to bad weather, the travel was suspended several times in the last 12 days, due to which many pilgrims were trapped at various places. The Meteorological Department has projected the rains from today to July 15.
